I must be ready for a vacation... I mean a REAL
vacation! I've taken my girls to Disneyland a half dozen times in the
past couple of months, and I've gone to Las Vegas several times, but I
must be ready for some rest and relaxation.
A friend and I were
talking last week, and she mentioned that she had always wanted to
visit the Galapagos Islands. I was surprised, but her reasons made me
all of a sudden a little wistful.
So, I've been doing some
research on it, and it really does sound like a wonderful place, having
the nickname, "Enchanted Islands."
Now, I want to go, too! :)
If
you've ever been, let me know. I'd love to hear your story about your
visit. I've learned a lot about the unique vegetation and animal life
there, and it sounds like scientists are still stumped as to how the
diversity of unique species could have developed on such a remote
island.
Not only would it be a relaxing vacation, I'd like to
take my girls to a place that isn't just known for the theme park
attraction, so that they might learn something also. I'd forgotten
myself that the Galapagos Islands are known for having Charles Darwin as one of its very first human visitors.
I
may not be able to go in the very near future, but it's certainly
something that I've added to my list of things that I want to do over
the next few years. Since I want to become a certified scuba diver
(also on my list), the Galapagos Islands has some of the best scuba diving in the world.
Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Gerry
